It’s been several months in the making but UTags is finally released in beta. There are a few bugs and design tweaks that need to be done, but it works.
What is UTags? Well, if you go to http://uta.gs you’ll be able to make a shortened URL. Our shortener has a twist however. Not only will you be able to turn a messy URL into something short and clean to tweet to your friends on Twitter, but you’ll be doing good at the same time.
How? The process is simple. After you create a shortened version of the URL for a webpage, you post it on your website, blog or Twitter page. Then, when people click through the link, they see a splash page where they may either continue to the link, or donate to your favorite cause.
To give further value to the end-user, the UTags short URL service also has built-in malware and adult website detection. It’s not flawless, but it does filter out over 99% of those malicious pages. And for those it doesn’t there’s a thumbnail that’s generated as a final precautionary measure.
So take it for a test drive and try our URL shortener to see how you can raise money for charity doing what you’re probably doing anyway on an everyday basis.
